Deepa Bharath is a staff writer for The Orange County Register covering health and religion. She has worked a number of beats from city government to crime and courts for Southern California newspapers including the Register, Los Angeles Times and the Daily Breeze. Deepa was an International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) fellow in 2013 and a 2015 International Women's Media Foundation fellow. She has won local and national awards for her work. She will be a participating reporter in the USC Center for Health Journalism Reporting Collaborative project on California’s uninsured.
